Who is Arzan Nagwaswalla? New sensation in Indian Cricket

Arzan Nagwaswalla new Indian bowler

Who is Arzan Nagwaswalla is really all Indians talking about these days. Let’s know him more.

Arzan Nagwaswalla is an Indian Cricketer who plays list A Class cricket for Gujarat. He made his List A debut for Gujarat in the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 11 February 2018. He made his first-class debut for Gujarat in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy on 1 November 2018. He made his Twenty20 debut for Gujarat the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 25 February 2019.

Arzan Nagwaswalla is a left arm fast-medium bowler. He became the centre of attraction since he got his name in the standby list of India’s upcoming tour to England followed for  2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship

Arzan Nagwaswalla got his name in the four stand by players list along with Abhimanyu Easwaran, Avesh Khan and Prasidh Krishna for the most awaited 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship and their away series against England. India is going to play World Test Championship Series against New Zealand. It is a pride moment for him that his name got selected for World Test Championship standby players.

Arzan had a terrific domestic season recently. He was Gujarat’s leading wicket-taker during their run to the Ranji Trophy 2019-20 semifinal. The left-arm quick picked up a total of 41 wickets at an average of 18.36. His brilliant performance paid off as the 23-year-old will now be sharing the dressing room with some of the stalwarts of Indian cricket. Sources Hintustan times.

Gujarat’s Nagwaswalla is three seasons old in domestic cricket. He is not express but “can go up to 135kph”. In his short first-class career so far, the left-arm seamer has picked up 62 wickets at an average of 22.53 and a strike rate of 44.6. Those numbers become even more impressive when one considers he mostly bowls first change. Sources espncricinfo.com

The Ranji Trophy couldn’t be held last season because of the pandemic, so Nagwaswalla focused his energies on white-ball cricket, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20s and the 50-overs Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the latter tournament, he was given the new ball and finished as the second-highest wicket-taker overall with 19 wickets from seven games at a hugely impressive average of 13.94.

After the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, during which he picked up a career-best 6 for 19 against Maharashtra, Nagwaswalla was called for trials by the Mumbai Indians and the Rajasthan Royals. His idol in cricket is Zaheer Khan and luckily he was the net bowler for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2021 where he met his idol Zaheer Khan and got some experience from Shane Bond along with Bumrah.

“My bowling idol and inspiration has always been Zaheer Khan mainly because he has also been a left-arm pacer. I have grown up watching him playing for India and doing really well,” said Arzan.
