What if the WTC final ends in a draw?

Who will be the winner of World Test Championship between India and New Zealand if it ends with a draw?

We all have been waiting for ICC World Test Championship which is going to play between India and New Zealand in England from June 18 to June 22. Now the question is popping up that who will be the winner if World Test Championship ends with a draw.

What do you mean by World Test Championship?

The ICC World Test Championship started from the Ashes series between Austrailia and England on 01 Aug 2019.  It featured nine of the twelve Test playing nations. Every team was scheduled to play a Test series against six of the other eight teams.

Each series consisted of between two and five matches, so although all teams were to play six series, three at home and three away, they were not scheduled to play the same number of Tests. Each team were able to score a maximum of 120 points from each series and the two teams with the most points at the end of the league stage would contest the final.

New Zealand were the first team to qualify for the final after Australia’s tour of South Africa was postponed earlier this year and got a second ranking in the ICC Test rankings.

Now the World of Cricket was waiting for the team who will spot on the first place. Here, India came ahead and defeated England in the Test series between India and England and topped the World Test Championship points table.

What if the World Test Championship final ends in a draw?

ICC kept a reserve day. Net playing time for every Test match per day is 6 hours per day or 90 overs. If in any condition, Test match doesn’t not meet its net playing time or overs per day then the reserve day that is Jun 23 is will be used. If a game is on hold for a whole day due to rain then it is certain to use the reserve day.

If the match does not have winner by June 23 and ends in a draw, the WTC trophy will be shared between both the finalist as there is no tie breaker is scheduled. India is holding the top spot but it does not mean they will be given the title if the match gets draw.
