IPL 2021 Suspended due to rising COVID 19 CASES

IPL 2021 Suspended due to rising COVID 19 cases. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla confirmed the same to news agency

The ongoing edition of Indian Premier League got suspended by The Board of Control for Cricket in India. The decision was taken after a number of cases emerged in the so called Bio Bubble.

Last match of the IPL 2021, which was set to play between Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Royal Challengers Banglore, was also postponed when Varun Chakravarthy tested positive of COVID 19. It is believed that Chakravarthy, who recently had exited the bio-bubble for shoulder scans via a green channel, may have contracted the virus first. Along with Varun, Sandeep Warrier also tested positive.

Meanwhile, three members of the Chennai Super Kings contingent tested positive for the virus on Monday, which included CSK bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji.

The decision was taken after Delhi Capitals spinner Amit Mishra and Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha tested positive for the virus on Tuesday.

Both the members were part of the ongoing IPL and SRH were scheduled to play against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday evening.

BCCI added ” These are difficult times, especially in India and while we have tried to bring in some positivities and cheer, however, it is imperative that the tournament is now suspended and everyone goes back to their families and loved ones in these trying times.”
