4 Players who won Man of the Series Award In Debut ODI SERIES

Winning a Man Of the Match award in the debut match is always inspiring but winning a title of Man of the Series Award in a debut ODI series is something a player always dream of.

Playing a debut series with national team and keep performing consistently in front of other legends of the team is not that easy.

Here are four Indian players who won the Man of the Series award in debut ODI series.

SURYAKUMAR YADAV

SuryaKumar Yadav finally got his place in Indian squad. He got his place in the team because senior players were not available.

Suryakumar Yadav became centre of attraction in IPL 2018 when he ended the season as the highest scorer for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2018.

Suryakumar Yadav average and strike rate in domestic cricket boast a lot about his batting skills. Many expert started calling him the complete batsman for all formats.

Suryakumar Yadav scored 31 in just 21 balls with a strike rate of 155.00 with 5 fours. He continued his form in second ODI and scored his maiden half century in One Day International.

In the second ODI he again scored runs with 100 plus strike rate. The third match of the ODI series won by Sri Lanka but SKY batted well and scored 40 runs with 108.11 strike rate.

Surykumar Yadav begged Man of the Series award in debut ODI series for his consistency with bat.

KL RAHUL

KL Rahul is one of the best batsman in the Indian bench. But few of us know that he was also begged Man of the Series award in debut ODI series.

KL Rahul was already a good name in Test cricket for India before joining the ODI side against Zimbabwe. He started his ODI debut match with a century against Zimbabwe in 2016.

In the third match of that series against Zimbabwe, KL Rahul scored 63 runs not out and won the Man of the Series award in ODI debut series.

KL Rahul has been the member of Indian team in almost all three formats of cricket. He is also a good replacement for Rishabh Pant as a wicketkeeper.

Karnataka has been dominating domestic cricket for last few years and credit can be given to KL Rahul as well.

VIJAY BHARDWAJ

Vijay Bhardwaj joined Indian team for LG CUP of 1999 as a bowler but quite impressed team with his bat too.

Vijay Bhardwaj won Man of the Series award in debut ODI series for his all round performance in LG CUP 1999. He took 10 wickets and also scored 89 crucial unbeaten runs lower down the order.

Vijay Bhardwaj played only 10 One Day International match for India. He played his last ODI in 2002 against Zimbabwe at Guwahati.

Vijay Bhardwaj was a key player for Karnataka in 90s when Karnataka begged three Ranji Titles and one of those player who won man of the series award in debut ODI series.

RAMAN LAMBA

If you are a cricket fan and follow cricket then you can never forget Raman Lamba.

Though Raman Lamba won Man of the Series award in debut series but moreover he is known for losing his life on the ground while playing a match in Bangladesh.

Raman Lamba scored 64 in his debut match and 102 in his sixth match and won the man of the series against Australia for scoring 278 runs at an average of 55.60 per innings with a century and 2 fifties.

Like Vijay Bhardwaj, Raman Lamba also played only 4 Test and 32 ODI for India. He was a popular player in Bangladesh‘s Dhaka Premier League .

Raman Lamba had also represented Ireland in unofficial One Day International match.

Lamba died  after he was hit on the temple by a cricket ball hit by Mehrab Hossain off left arm spinner Saifullah Khan while fielding at forward short leg.
